2015 :: Year In Review

Cheers to another year! 2015 was quite a busy and successful year for us. From travel adventures to new ventures, we kept busy most days of the year. At the end of the year, I always love looking back and seeing what exciting things we did the past year. Here are some of the highlights of 2015 for us.

I kicked off the New Year by opening my own Etsy shop! It’s been a labor of love to be able to share my creativity and make such fun and adorable items. While it takes up a lot of my time these days, I couldn’t be happier having a hobby that I really love.

In Fitness, the hubs and I both ran Trek up the Tower for the second year in February and I ran my 7th half marathon.

In travel, we headed to Vegas in July and in February we took a mini winter getaway to Palm Springs for some sun and golfing. I also traveled down to Kansas City a couple of times to attend my first blog conference and workshop. What an inspiring experience that was to be able to be around other ladies who are just as passionate about building their own dreams and being a #girlboss.

Hubs and I had our second wedding anniversary and to celebrate, we headed to London and Paris. Afternoon tea, a photo shoot in front of the Eiffel Tower and the French Open were just a few of the highlights. I love having a husband who loves to travel as much as I do.

I also spent much of the summer and fall dedicated to my Junior League committee. I was on a team that puts together one of our fundraisers and I spent many nights working away on our silent auction. On top of that, husband and I also were producers for a local pageant. If you didn’t know, the Mr. and I met through pageants so we have a big spot in our heart for them and we love being able to spend time together doing something that we love.

And when we weren’t busy working, we tried to make some time for fun including our monthly date nights to a musical and weekend dates on the golf course.

So that brings us to the new year! As a belated holiday present to ourselves and wanting some much needed rest and relaxation, we’re kicking off 2016 by heading to Cabo San Lucas  for the week. We went there 2 years ago for our honeymoon and it seemed like the perfect winter getaway for us.

Cheers to 2016!

July Favorites

The beginning of another month means that it’s time share some favorites! Here’s a look into the makeup, skincare and lifestyle favorites I’ve been reaching for during the month of July.

May & June Favorites

I had full intentions of filming this but sometimes life gets in the way and it was much easier for me to write a post then set-up, film, edit etc. So instead of watching me about my monthly favorites, let’s take a stab at writing about them!

I didn’t get a chance to do a May Favorites which the perfectionist in me was bummed about. My birthday + our anniversary + lots of work + vacation = something just gotta give. But on the bright side, I’m combining all of my favorites from the past month into this little post which means the more the merrier!

May/June Favorites

Fresh Lip Sugar – Petal :: I forgot how much I loved this color! I’ve always been a fan of the Fresh Lip Sugars and this color is the perfect my lips but better color. It’s also smooth, buttery and moisturizing on the lips.

Covergirl Jumbo Balm – Raspberry :: I bought this to use as a winter lip color since berry’s are great to wear in the colder weather. I keep this next to my keys by my garage door and always put it on before I head out. Easy to put on and a great color for summer too!

It Cosmetics Vitality Disc :: This has always caught my eye at Ulta but I always passed by it. Did I really need another blush in my collection? Well, yes I do. I thought this would be great for traveling since it’s all in on product and the mirror on it is HUGE which is also a plus for when you’re on the go.

Morrocan Oil Dry Shampoo :: The smell of Morrocan Oil products is my fave! When I heard they have a dry shampoo, I had to run out and get it. It is a bit pricey but totally worth it. Smells great, doesn’t leave a residue in your hair and makes it feel fresh!

Amlaction Lotion :: While on vacation I got the most dry elbows ever. Like lizard dry skin status. My normal lotions weren’t doing the trick so I picked this up at CVS. This has made my dry skin and my keratosis pilaris (aka my chicken skin) so smooth! It’s a miracle product!

Barrington Bag :: My mom and I have been lusting after Barrington Bags for awhile. You’re able to customize the colors, type of bag and monogram on it. We often send each other photos of the next bag we want. My mom picked this up for me for our recent vacation and it was a great bag to travel with! I got the black and white stripes because they’re my favorite and I thought the pink and orange looked brighter and summery on it. It has a few pockets on the inside which was great to hold my wallet, passport and water and it also zipped up so I knew my things were safe.

Workout tanks :: Since I started Pure Barre, my workout collection has been growing. I’ve been really into these muscle tanks because they’re loose and flowy so I don’t overheat while working out. I love them so much that I’ve made some and they’re now available in my Etsy shop!

Bed Spray :: I have never been a good sleeper so I’m always on the lookout for products to help me get my zzzz’s in. I spotted this in the travel section at CVS and I love to spritz it on my pillow before bed to help soothe me to sleep.

Target Sunglasses :: Whenever we go on vacation, I always buy a cheap pair of sunglasses to bring with. I’d rather not loose my expensive ones while on the other side of the world. This pair from Target was so adorable with the floral sides that I couldn’t say no!

Spring Favorites

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. It’s time to pack away our winter gear and bring out the bright colors for clothes and makeup. Today I wanted to share a few key pieces in my makeup and my wardrobe that are my Spring Favorites.

April Favorites

Another month is over! And I’m so so so happy that’s May! Not only is May my birthday month but my husband and I will also be celebrating our second wedding anniversary at the end of the month. To commemorate the occasion, we’re going on vacation to London and Paris and I’m so stinking excited! My husband has been working A LOT lately which means we’ve pretty much not seen each other for a couple of weeks. I’m really looking forward to relaxing and spending time with him while exploring Europe!

But before we can get any further into May, let’s recap April and see what items I loved throughout the month!

March Favorites

You know how they always say March is in like a lion and out like a lamb? Yeah, not quite sure what that means. All I know is that the weather is FINALLY nice where I live and it has made me so happy! My boots, gloves and winter hat are officially packed away and fingers crossed that I don’t have to pull them out again till later this year.

This month I don’t have a ton of favorites, in fact most of my favorites are a few rediscovered beauty items that I had in my collection.

February Favorites

Since February is such a short month, it seemed to fly by faster than all the other months in the year! We had a busy month filled with lots of work, a stair climbing race and even a little long weekend to Palm Springs. Although February was short, I still found some new and rediscovered some old favorites!

January Favorites

We officially have one month of the year 2015 complete! It’s hard to believe how fast time flies. I feel like we were just celebrating Christmas and New Year’s!

While I didn’t have many beauty favorites this month, I have some new snack favorites this month and an exciting announcement about a recent endeavor of mine so check it out!

Friday Favs :: #8

Ahhh Friday, my favorite day of the week! The weather around here has been warming up nicely over the past week and let me tell you, it’s so nice not to have to deal with below zero temperatures the past few days! It’s been still chilly with highs in the 30s-40s but that feels like summer compared to last week’s weather! Let’s jump right into my Friday Favorites. I’ve got some really fun things to talk about today!

Friday Favorites

  • Cold Justice on TNT

A little shameless plug here but my dad is on the TV show Cold Justice on TNT and on tonight’s episode he is one of the investigators. A little background here, my dad is a retired Homicide Detective and he lends his expertise to the show Cold Justice on TNT. Cold Justice is a show that goes back to cold case crimes that were never solved and through the help of local law enforcement and expert investigators, like my dad, they try to solve the case. My dad is incredibly smart when it comes to dealing with homicides and criminals and it’s a little bit fun to have a mini-celebrity in the family. Tonight’s episode is on at 7pm Central time. Here’s a little clip of a TV special my dad was on with John Walsh recapping some of the cases he’s worked on with the show. Fast forward to 11:55 so you can see my daddy :)

  • Etsy shop

I’m so excited to announce that I started my own Etsy shop!!! I always tell my husband business ideas I have and I’m elated that I’m finally seeing some of my ideas coming to life. Being a business owner is something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time. I’ve really learned the value of being your own boss from my husband since he also runs a photo and video business in addition to his full-time job. I know that this is going to take a lot of free time away from me but I really enjoy what I’m making and when you love what you’re doing, that’s not considered work, right? I really hope this is the start of something much bigger for me..and my husband who has been so generously helping me out with everything! We have some other super exciting products that we’ve been working our tails off on each night and I am bursting at the seams to start selling them. I’ll let you all know soon when those items are posted :)

  • Starbucks Alice & Olivia Mug

I’m a sucker for a cute water bottle or mug and I had to snatch this limited edition Starbucks mug the second I saw it last week. Last year I bought the original Alice and Olivia mug they came out with, and I was beyond bummed when I was cleaning it a few months ago, dropped it and shattered it everywhere. Thank goodness this little mug is making me a little bit happier when I drink my tea in the morning :)

Yearly Skincare & Haircare Favorites

Last week I shared my favorites beauty products of 2014 and today I’m back with my favorite skincare and haircare products. While my beauty products can change on a daily basis, I pretty much stick to the same haircare and skincare routine for everyday. Without further ado, here are my standout and tried and true products of 2014!
