Yearly Favorites :: Beauty

Normally at the beginning of the month you’d see my favorites from the past month. Since it’s the ending of one year and the beginning of another, I thought I’d share some of my all-time beauty favorites from the entire year. Here’s a recap of what were my all-time favorite, always reading for beauty products for 2014!

How Do You Measure A Year? 2014 End of the Year Recap!

In the blink of an eye, another year has passed. It’s been another great year for #richpartyof2 and here are some of the highlights of 2014.

January

We kicked off 2014 in style as we sat courtside at the Creighton vs Marquette game. I was so excited to see my alma mater play ever since Creighton joined the Big East. Although we lost the game, I was the loudest cheering MU fan right behind the Creighton bench. We also traveled back to Milwaukee this month to see one of my longest childhood friends get married. We actually met at my very first pageant and have stayed friends since 1997! Miles traveled :: 1,198

We headed back to the upper Midwest to Chicago for my college besties’ wedding shower. Husband and I also did our first Trek up the Tower race where we ran up 40 flights of stairs. Miles traveled :: 948

March

I headed down to Kansas City for the weekend for one of my pageant bestie’s bachelorette and wedding shower. The hubs and I also needed a getaway so we packed our bags and headed to our favorite tropical location, St. Maarten, for a long weekend. It was so nice to just lay in the sun and have nothing to worry about for a few days. Miles traveled :: 6,818

April

I traveled back to Milwaukee to judge the Miss St. Francis pageant. It was an honor to judge because it was the 50th anniversary for this local pageant. For those of you who don’t know, I competed in pageants for nearly 20 years and that’s how I met my husband too. Pageants will always have a special place in my heart. Miles traveled :: 1,112

May

May was a busy month for us! I ran my 6th half marathon, celebrated my 28th birthday and also our first wedding anniversary. To commemorate our one year as newlyweds, we headed down to Scottsdale, Arizona for a long weekend of relaxing. We laid in the sun, golfed, went shopping and ate and drank to our hearts content. I think heading somewhere for our anniversary may become a yearly tradition since we love to travel so much. We ended the month in Chicago as I was a bridesmaid in my college bestie’s wedding. Another wedding we headed to for one of my pageant besties. She had the most shabby chic barn wedding up in Fargo, North Dakota. I also became an auntie for the second time to my adorable niece, Isabella Marguerite. This month I also joined the Junior League in my town and have loved having the opportunity to do more volunteer work and also meet some new besties. I did 2 races this month : one was a 10k and the other was a 5k with the husbandMiles traveled :: 848

I headed back to Milwaukee for a weekend of fun and play with my niece and nephew. At the end of the month, we headed down to Kansas City as I was a bridesmaid in my pageant bestie’s wedding. Interesting fact, just 8 years prior to this on the same weekend we were at Lake of the Ozarks together with our then boyfriends who are both now are our husbands. My how time flies! What I’m Loving Friday #6

So happy that it’s finally Friday and time for the weekend! My husband has been out of town all week for work and I’m so excited to have him home again. Our pups will be over the moon excited to see him too. For some reason they both completely sulk around the house when he’s gone and they stare at the door thinking it will make him come home sooner. I think they like him a lot more than me because they don’t even care that I’m there! But enough about me, time for some Friday Favorites!

  • Pure Barre

Pure Barre

I’ve been anticipating the Pure Barre studio opening down the street from our house for quite a few months and the time has finally arrived! I purchased a new client package that lasts me for 6 weeks so I’ve been getting up bright and early at 5 am to make it to class. I absolutely love the class and am totally addicted to it already! It’s unlike any other workout I’ve done before and each class so far has been different and has really challenged my body in ways I’ve never done before.

  • Blind Heart

Speaking of Pure Barre, in a couple of classes this has been the last song played while we do our last exercise and I found myself jamming out to it while I finished out class. I was so excited to tell my husband about this song but turns out he’s already heard it. Side note about my husband, I swear this kid could be a music producer in his free time. He always knows songs before they become popular. Years ago he told me about Maroon 5 and how he thought they’d be the next big thing. 6 months later, what’s on the radio all the time? Yep, Maroon 5. He has really great taste in music and has made me listen to songs that always become popular a few months later. I had to laugh when I was listening to a Spotify playlist he made and this song was on it.

  • Peppermint Bark

Peppermint Bark

I talked about my love for peppermint bark in my last Friday Favorites and here’s another one to add to the list. I cannot get enough of this chocolate! And it’s in fun bell shapes which makes it even more festive

Gift Guide Personalized Gifts

One thing I can never get enough of, is anything with a monogram on it. I’m not sure what it is but I can never resist ordering something when it has an adorable cursive monogram stamp. I know that I have one too many pullover sweatshirt and water bottles with ARE printed on them, but I can’t help myself!

Recently Marley Lilly sent me a beautiful scarf as part of being in their Blogger Review Program. I’ve been a HUGE fan of this company for awhile. Not only do I have a number of monogrammed items from their website but I love browsing all of their new arrivals. They always have the cutest things from clothing to jewelry to home decor that can have a monogram added to it.

Marley Lilly Monogrammed Scarf

When I opened up this package I was so excited to see this scarf. Since I live in the Midwest, I’m always in need of winter accessories to keep me warm. This scarf is so soft and feels almost like cashmere. I love that it’s in a dark gray color because it can go with a lot of things, including my red pea coat that I wear almost everyday. The other great thing about this scarf is that it’s not too bulky that it only has to be worn outside. You could easily pair this scarf with a sweater and wear it as part of your outfit too.

I think this scarf, as well as anything monogrammed, would make the absolute perfect gift. Having a monogram on an item just shows that you’ve gone a little above and beyond to make something ordinary a little extra special for that person. I wish I could order EVERYTHING on the Marley Lilly website, but instead I’ll keep lusting over some of my favorite items below. Any of these would make a great holiday gift for your mom, sister or bestie in your life! Gift Guide Personalized Gifts

This bracelet looks so luxe and beautiful. It comes in a variety of different colored rhinestones and is the perfect accent piece to any outfit.

Cashmere Feel Scarf :: $22.99
There are so many options on how to personalize this scarf. Lots of different colors and prints to choose from..it’s hard to make a decision on which one to get!
16 Oz. Tumbler :: $16.99
I always have a water bottle or tumbler with me. These are great to have because it keeps your beverage hot or cold and it doesn’t sweat and get everything wet!
Monogrammed Baseball Hat :: $24.99
These baseball hats are great not only for a bad hair day but also for those hot summer days that you spend by the pool.
Monogrammed Sunshine Satchel Duffel Bag :: $94.99
I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this bag! As a frequent traveler, this bag would make a great carry-on bag or as a weekender duffle.
Teardrop Stone Bracelet :: $29.99
Anything that has rhinestones on it makes me happy and this bracelet is no different! It’s small and dainty but the rhinestone adds some sparkle and shine to your outfit.
Luxe Cross Body Bag :: $36.99
These clutches come in a TON of different colors so you’re sure to find one that matches your next night out on the town outfit.
Monogrammed Pullover Sweatshirt :: $49.99
Since I don’t like to look like a total bum on days I’m not in the mood to get dressed, reaching for a monogrammed pullover is the best option. I have these in multiple colors and they’re so soft and cozy that I can’t get enough of them!

November Favorites

Happy December 1! I can’t believe Christmas is only 25 days away. It feels like 2014 has just flown by, but doesn’t every year feel like that? I love this time of the year and am counting down the days until Christmas so I can enjoy some time off, relax, see my family and of course, open presents!

Today I have the last of my monthly favorites for this year. Next month, I’ll be doing a mini-series on my all-time favorites from the past year. The items I mention in those videos will be categorized (i.e. foundation, concealer etc) and I’ll only mention something in a category if I REALLY love it..meaning if I have no favorite in that category then there will be no favorite. I’ll also have another video about my yearly lifestyle favorites (i.e. candles, fashion, food etc) so be on the look out for those at the end of this month and beginning of January!

What I’m loving Friday #5

Friday Friday gotta get down on Friday. Am I the only one that still sings that song on a Friday? At any rate, it’s the weekend! YAY! Husband and I don’t have any big plans for this weekend which always makes me excited. Does that mean I’m officially old when I’d rather spend my weekend cuddling on the couch than going out and doing something? Actually, relaxing is all that’s on my mind these days. It’s busy season at my job (I work in retail marketing) so obviously there’s a lot going on and many things to be done for the holiday season. Lately I’ve been starting my weekend countdowns on Monday because I can’t wait to sleep in and not have to worry about work for a few days! Other than being excited that it’s Friday, I have a few new favorites I wanted to share with you!

Donuts to me are a food group. I love anything sweet so it should be no surprise that donuts are on my top favorite foods list. I remember when I was growing up that every Saturday before my sister had tennis practice, my mom would take us to Dunkin Donuts. I have fond memories of eating my sprinkled donuts at the counter with my orange juice. To this day, I get so excited when my husband asks if we want to get donuts. 28 years later, I’m still getting the same kind of donut each time too…chocolate with sprinkles. When I found this sweater online at Target, there was no way I could pass it up. It makes me smile when I wear it not only because of the donuts but how fun and colorful it is!

My husband and I both LOVE ice cream. It’s not unusual for one of us to look at each other at 9pm and ask if the other person wants to go to Dairy Queen. While we were in Italy, we ate our weight in gelato and ever since we got back I’ve been on the hunt for some in the states. I came across this at Whole Foods last week and decided to try it out. This stuff is so delicious that it didn’t last 48 hours in our house! Well, actually I ate most of it before my husband could really get to it..oops! I’ve also been on a sea salt caramel kick the past few months ever since I had some from a local place called creamery. Since ecreamery isn’t on the way home from work like Whole Foods is, I’m glad I was able to find an alternative that I can pick up a little more easily. There was also other flavors like peppermint bark and chocolate cookie crunch that I can’t wait to try soon too.

  • Mixing and matching outfits

While I love fashion, I can get into a wardrobe rut in the winter. I feel like it’s so easy to get dressed in the summer because all I need to do is pair a dress with some shoes and a necklace and be on my way. In winter there are so many more decisions to think about..what shirt, shoes, pants do I wear with this? Oh and don’t forget socks! I’ve been trying to mix and match more of pieces to make more statement looks and I love this look I wore earlier this week. I felt fall-ish still because of the plaid shirt but felt a bit more holiday with the sequin bow cardigan over it.

Plaid, sparkle and leopard

Boom Chicka Pop has been one of my favorite snacks for awhile ever since my mom introduced me to it. I love these holiday flavors that the Angie’s brand comes out with. Unfortunately, the Halloween candy corn flavor disappointed me so I was a little hesitant to try these. However, white chocolate peppermint is one flavor I love during the holidays and these did not disappoint! They’re the perfect sweet and salty snack to eat while watching tv.

QUESTION // What are you up to this weekend?

August Favorites

Since I had so many new favorites last month, my newly discovered products and things that I’ve been using all month long is a little light this month. Have no fear though, I have done some makeup shopping this past week and am crossing my fingers that they make it into my next months’ favorites!

10 Day You Challenge

I saw Julie over at Peanut Butter Fingers do this challenge and I thought it’d be fun to join in too! I always like reading these survey type of blogs because it really helps you to learn about the person. The first challenge is 10 secrets and I can’t think of any real secrets that I have so I’m skipping 10 and moving straight to 9!

10-Day-You-Challenge_thumb

1. Brandon

Yesterday was actually our 8-year date-a-versary! I’m so lucky to call this guy my husband and best friend. He loves me, takes care of me, doesn’t get mad when I come home with lots of shopping bags, and he makes me laugh. I’d be lost without him and it’s been an amazing 8 years of adventure and I can’t wait for more fun with this guy!

2. My Family

family

I truly believe I had the BEST family in the world. My dad is the most hard working man I know, my mom is the nicest and most generous and most fashionable woman ever and my sister is so selfless and loving. Obviously I’d be lost without them and for all of the support they’ve given me over the years.

3. My Furbabies : Madison & Giavanna

pups

I love these two little fur balls like I gave birth to them. They love me unconditionally and I love how cute and fluffy they are. I always thought my mom was a little crazy growing up because she always felt bad leaving the dogs at home even if we went to run a quick errand. But now that I’ve been a dog mom for 6 years, I get it. I hate leaving them for work because they give you those sad puppy dog eyes. Getting both of my girls was one of the best things that has ever happened.

4. My Besties

kh

molly

I have some of the most AMAZING friends on the face of this earth. Although my girlfriends live all over the country, we still keep in touch. I’m lucky to have girls who have been there for me through my ups and downs or even just the days I want to text them for no reason at all.

5. Traveling

travel

travel2

I’m glad I have a husband who loves traveling as much as I do. We’ve been to some pretty neat places  and I look forward to traveling the world with the love of my life.

6. Working Out

exercise

Working out is my “me time”. It’s my time to hoop on a treadmill and read, or run outside and forget about all of my troubles. I look back on the past few years and am amazed at how much I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone. I have accomplished things I never thought were possible and it’s all because I told myself to push a little harder.

7. Sweets :)

Photo Jul 08, 9 09 09 AM

I’m a firm believer that donuts/cupcakes/ice cream/cake are their own food group. Who doesn’t love a good baked item with tons of frosting on it?

8. Shopping

shopping

Enough said. If I could shop all day, everyday I would. I’m a firm believer in retail therapy and that a new outfit makes any girl feel better.

9. The Beach

stm

To me, there is nothing more relaxing than laying on a beach and hearing the waves splash against the shore. I wish I lived closer to a beach because I would be there every weekend getting my tan on!

QUESTION // What are some of your favorite things that you love?

July Favorites

Another month is over and that means new products that I fell in love with! I was pretty spend this past month and got a lot of new things, many of which made their way into my favorites!

Currently…..

I’m currently in the mood to right, but unsure of what to write about. Writer’s block anyone? A few weeks ago I saw this little survey/get to know me post done on Erin’s blog and Julie’s blog and I thought it would be fun to share my answers to the questions. Hopefully you’ll get to know me a little bit better!

Current Book ::

Photo Jul 02, 8 23 26 PM

Right now I’m about halfway through The One and Only by one of my favorite authors, Emily Giffin. So far it’s a pretty good book, not my favorite so far but it’s an easy, girly read which I always enjoy. I also am about a third of the way done with Revenge Wears Prada…and it’s been that way since our vacation to Cabo back in October. I am a HUGE fan of Devil Wears Prada and this book I just could not get in to. I really should finish it one of these days.

Current Music ::

OBSESSED with this song. Whenever it comes on the radio, I sing and dance in the car. For some reason it gives me this NSYNC/Backstreet Boys vibe which takes me back to my elementary school days.

Current Guilty Pleasure ::

Yep, I watch it every night on Nick at Nite. Therefore, it makes me feel old. I’ve probably seen every episode a hundred times, but I still watch it each night. Gotta love cheesy 90’s shows.

Current Nail Color ::

NADA! I have the worst luck with nail color. I paint them and the next day it peels off, unless I get shellac. Any tips on making my polish last longer than a day?

Current Drink ::

Photo Jul 02, 8 24 09 PM

Water..in a fun tumbler or mug. I have an obsession with getting new water bottles. Like I have one too many. Also currently obsessed with Arnold Palmers Ice Tea Lemonade. If you haven’t tried it, run to the nearest store and get one. You’ll thank me later.

Current Food ::

I’ve actually been in a food funk lately. Anyone ever get like that? Husband has been traveling a lot so when it’s just me for dinner, I have a few meals I rotate. Then when he does come back home, it’s hard to get back into a cooking routine, hence we had Chipotle last night for dinner and pizza tonight. Any recipes you want to share to get me out of this funk?

Current Favorite Show ::

Friends! Does that count? I also watch this every night..and it still cracks me up. I’ve been known to watch it on planes when we travel and I bust out laughing at the top of my lungs. I’m planning a mini Friends marathon and want to watch each episode in a row before the end of summer.

Current Wish List ::

If I gave you my wish list, we’d be here forever. Just check out my Dear Santa/Birthday Fairy Pinterest board. It changes daily with new additions. Clearly I’m a shopaholic.

Current Needs ::

I need to do laundry…and I hate doing laundry. The whole folding and putting clothes away process is so boring to me.

Current Indulgence ::

Dairy Queen. I try to convince the husband every night in the summer to go to Dairy Queen for ice cream. We both always get the same thing: a mini Reese’s blizzard for him and a chocolate dipped kids’ cone for me.

Current Blessing ::

Photo Jun 14, 3 24 06 PM

Husband. He’ll forever and always be my man crush. I’m thankful that he loves me more than anything. He knows when to hand me $20 because he knows I’d rather not cook dinner and would like to pick up something instead. He lets me go shopping, travels the world with me and is the greatest doggy daddy to our girls. He’s the hardest working guy I know (next to my dad) and I’m so blessed to have him in my life and thankful that he takes such good care of me.

Current Outfit ::

Shorts, t-shirt and a sweatshirt..my normal at home uniform.

Current Excitement ::

NYC! Husband has some meetings there on Monday afternoon and Tuesday so we’re heading there on Sunday to enjoy a little mini vacation. He’s never been there and I was only there once for a short trip so we’re going to be total tourists. I’m looking forward to some shopping and trying out some fitness classes while he’s busy working too!
