Friday Favorites

Fri-yay! Let’s be real, I’m always excited about Friday when it comes around but I’m extra excited today because after today, I’m off of work for a week and half. Can I get a woo-hoo? The husband and I have been super swamped and busy lately with our full time jobs and doing our own business stuff at night so we are both really looking forward to a little time off as we’re leaving on vacation on Monday. We’re jetting off to London and Paris for 8 days and couldn’t be more excited to head off on another adventure and have some down-time together.

But, before I can get into vacation mode, let’s recap this last week and see what I’ve been loving lately!

  • Pure Barre 100 Club

Pure Barre has become my new favorite workout since I started taking classes back in December. On Wednesday I reached a big milestone and made it into the 100 club! I’ve taken that many classes the last 5 months and I was the 6th person at my studio to do so. I just love the workout, how it makes me feel and how it’s really made me more lean and toned than I ever was before. Here’s to reaching the 250 club next!

  • Doggy Spaw Day

I love nothing more than picking my fur babies up from a day at the spas (aka the groomer). I treat my dogs like my children and these 2 princesses get their hair cut more than I do. Pretty lucky little girls if you ask me. I always love how soft they are when I pick them up and how good they smell.

  • Gossip Girl

Since we got rid of our cable a few months ago, I was looking for some Netflix shows that I could start to watch. Well Gossip Girl has become my newest addiction. I never watched it while it was on TV but I’m really getting into the series. I especially love all of the fashion that Serena and Blair wear.

Friday Favorites :: #15

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared some of my Friday favorites. I’ve got some new things that I’ve discovered and re-discovered over the past few weeks that I’ve been wanting to share. There are a number of items on my list so let’s not waste anytime and see what’s made it onto the favorites list!

Friday Favorites

  • Green tea with honey

It has been my least favorite weather all week long here. Dreary, cold and misty rain. With such chilly mornings, I’ve been turning to my winter morning pick me up, green tea with honey to help warm me up. I also love drinking it out of my pink leopard Tervis mug. Not only is it my favorite print but it is also helps keep it warm for quite some time.

  • Naturebox Garlic Plantains

I love getting Naturebox in the mail. They’re healthy snacks that I don’t feel guilty about eating. These garlic plantains are on repeat in my quarterly box. They taste exactly like a potato chip except they’re made with plantains instead. I cannot keep my paws off of these! They’re crunchy and salty and are perfect when I’m in the mood for chips.

  • Target Tote

Anyone who knows me knows that I love bags. Every day I carry 3 bags (purse, lunchbox and tote bag) into work with me and I often get asked why I carry so many with me. I felt like my current work tote needed an upgrade and I fell in love with this one. It’s basic black so it goes with everything. I love how it’s structured so it holds my planner perfectly and the bow on it just screams preppy and Kate Spade. At only $35, I couldn’t pass it up!

  • Go Blog Social

I’m still on a blogging/motivational high from Go Blog Social last weekend. I have so many ideas for both my blog and Etsy shop that I’m looking forward to putting into motion. Now if there were only more hours in a day so that I could get them all done!

  • Rawxies

Callie England, CEO of Rawxies, was the keynote speaker at Go Blog Social. She shared not only the story of how her snack business came to be but she also gave out samples of the tasty treats. I tried this tasty morsel the other day at work when I wanted a snack and I fell in love with it! I had the lemon poppy seed and it’s a soft cookie in the shape of a heart that was delicious. At only 85 calories it hit the spot for what I needed at my 3pm hangry time. The best part is the snacks are vegan, gluten free, raw, non GMO ingredients, soy free and dairy free. AKA all good for you ingredients. I’m placing an order asap to keep this on hand for snack time.

  • Quiet Reading Time

This is something my husband just made me start working into my nightly routine. I’ve never been a good sleeper and lately I’ve been up waking up every hour. Then I have a hard time falling back asleep and I wake up at 5 am for Pure Barre class so this all just translates into I’m not getting enough sleep. Recently my husband suggested that I unplug for an hour before I go to bed to help me wind down for the night. No phone, no laptop or ipad, no tv. Instead, I’ve been reading books and magazines and having a cup of chamomile tea to help ease me into bedtime and I have been loving it. I look forward to this quiet me time each night and so far it’s been helping me fall asleep and stay asleep.

Question // What are some things you’ve been loving lately?

Friday Favorites :: #13

I am so stinking excited it’s the weekend! I’m especially excited for this Friday because I’m in Palm Springs for a long weekend with my husband. It’s been a busy few weeks for the both of us so I’m looking forward to some fun in the sun with him till Monday.

Here’s a few things that helped get me through this work week. Don’t work weeks always drag when you’re looking forward to getting out of town for a few days?

  • Girl Scout Cookies

My husband came home with 6 boxes of these! I was going to resolve to give up sweets for Lent but that’s apparently not happening since these tempt me every time I open up our pantry. My favorites are Peanut Butter Patties and the Thanks a lot Cookies.

  • Cuisinart Griddler

This may seem like an odd favorite but this is my new favorite cooking appliance! Since it’s just me and my husband at home, I really dislike having to use a ton of different pots, pans and dishes to make dinner for just 2 people. This has been a lifesaver! My parents got it for us for Christmas and we use it multiple times a week. Most often we make panini sandwiches on it but we also like to flip it open and grill chicken or salmon one side and a veggie side dish on the other. The best part? Easy cleanup afterwards! Just click the hot plates out of the griddler and pop them into the dishwasher and voila! All done!

  • Tieks

Since I pretty much live in ballet flats, I hinted to my husband that I wanted a pair of these and he got me a pair for Valentine’s Day. I specifically wanted them because they fold up which makes for easy traveling since we are always jet setting around. Not only do I love the hot pink color of them, but they are so incredibly comfortable! It’s like wearing memory foam on your feet. I’ve already created a list of which ones I want to buy next…

  • Macaroons

My husband was super sweet the other day and went out of his way while traveling for a day trip for work and went to the mall and picked up macaroons for me J Both he and I LOVE LOVE LOVE macaroons and we devoured this the second he got home. Our 2 favorite flavors that we tried we the salted caramel and lavender vanilla. We’re looking forward to doing a macaroon food tour when we travel to Paris in May.

Friday Favorites :: #12

Fri-yay! Another work week is over and I’m so glad it’s the weekend! I have a full weekend planned and am looking forward to kicking it off. Tomorrow the hubs and I are doing a stair climbing race downtown and on Sunday I’m heading down to Kansas City for the day for my first blog workshop. I’m really looking forward to learning more about how to grow my blog and to also network and meet some new blogging friends!

While this week was long, I couldn’t have made it to Friday without these favorites that helped get me through the week ::

  • Angie’s Cheese Puffs

Hello delicousness! I’m a huge fan of the Boom Chicka Pop and this new snack is no exception. I’m claiming this to be a “healthy” cheeto and I can’t keep my paws off of these when I’m in the kitchen.

Boom Chicka Puffs

  • House of Cards

Today we are officially taking the plunge and saying goodbye to cable. We’ve lived without it for a week and we’ve been happily watching Sling TV and we really got into watching House of Cards on Netflix. We’ve never watched a tv show like this and we’ve become really addicted to this show. The hubs and I look forward to watching an episode each night after dinner. I’m normally not into drama tv shows but this has a really great storyline that has been really interesting to follow. I know we’ll get through this show pretty fast so let me know your recommendations on the next TV show we should watch.

  • Maxi Dresses

With the below zero temperatures we’ve had all week, all I can keep my mind on is knowing that next Friday I’ll be in the 85 degree weather in Palm Springs. I’m so looking forward to getting a tan and putting on dresses instead of pants and boots everyday. I’ve purchased a new maxi dresses to wear on our trip and I cannot wait to final wear some summer clothes so soon!

QUESTION // What TV shows do you like to binge watch?

Friday Faves :: #11

Friday is always one of my favorite days of the week, especially this week since it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow. The hubs and I have fun some things planned for this weekend that I’m really looking forward to since he’s been out of town most of this week for work. Tonight B is joining me at a special “Bring your men to the Barre” class at Pure Barre tonight. I think he’s dreading it just a little bit because he knows how hard of a workout it is, but I’m looking forward to showing him why I love class so much. It also doesn’t hurt to know that I’ll be better at it than him (haha!)

For Valentine ’s Day we have a little day of fun planned. The hubs is being a good sport and we’re going to the movies to see 50 Shades of Grey. We aren’t big movie-goers, in fact I think it’s been a solid 3 years since we’ve actually seen a movie in the theater. Fingers crossed that it’s a decent movie. I am horrible at picking what we watch for movie night at our house and I always pick a dud to watch. We’ll round out the night by making dinner at home. While we’re foodies and love to try new places, we always stick to making a steak dinner at home for Valentine’s Day because neither of us are fans of the fixed menus at most restaurants on this love holiday.

  • Luna Sleep

This is the smartest invention ever! It’s a mattress cover that warms your bed, tracks your sleep and apparently makes you smarter too. This fancy gadget allows you to keep each side of the bed a different temperature so you and your partner can sleep comfortably. It also knows how to wake you up in the correct spot of your sleeping cycle so you aren’t groggy. As someone who hates to get into a cold bed at night, this would be the perfect addition to our bed.

  • Thinster’s Cookie Thins

I decided to head to Costco by myself, while hungry the other night. That was just a poor decision on my part because I came home with things I did not need, including these cookies. Normally I like my cookies soft and not crunchy but these are an exception. They’re so good and the chocolate chips are almost gooey in there so it seems like they’re fresh out of the oven! This has been a nice little treat to eat after lunch each day.

  • Maltese Picture

My mom always sends me a Valentine’s present because I’m a forever 5 year old that loves to get gifts. She sent me this adorable picture that she picked up for me and I’m in LOVE with it! Not only does it show a maltese puppy which looks exactly like my 2 pups, but it also has cupcakes on it! This has made it’s home in my kitchen and it makes me smile every time I see it!

QUESTION // What are your Valentine’s Day plans?

Friday Favs :: #10

And just like that another week is over and it’s time for the weekend! My body is craving a good day of sleeping in since I’ve been getting up at 5 each weekday to head to Pure Barre before work. I absolutely love going to class but sometimes those early mornings are hard to deal with!

With the end of every week it’s time to share my favorites that I’ve been loving so here we go!

  • Fresh Sugar Lip Scrub

While it’s been abnormally warm where I live, for some reason my lips are still parched. I’ve been waking up in the morning with lips that look like a snake shedding its skin and I couldn’t take it anymore. I’ve had this lib scrub from Fresh for awhile but haven’t put it to much use. I started using it earlier this week and it has made my lips feel so soft! It’s basically a brown sugar scrub that helps to slough off all the dead skin on your lips and leaves them feeling as smooth as a baby’s bottom. It doesn’t hurt that this stuff tastes pretty good too.

  • Luna Chocolate Cupcake Bar

I’ve mentioned previously how I’ve always been a bit skeptical on protein bars but I’ve been trying out new flavors and brands of them lately. This one was a no brainer to try because I think cupcakes are their own food group. This tasted pretty similar to a chocolate cupcake, although not nearly as good as one! But at least I didn’t feel as guilty eating this compared to a real cupcake!

  • Cookie Butter Cookies

If you haven’t tried Cookie Butter from Trader Joe’s, then you are missing out. This stuff is so addicting to eat. They recently came out with the cookie butter in a cookie and it’s like heaven! I’ve been looking forward to every night after dinner so I can eat a couple of these. Just do yourself a favor and run out and get these.

  • Uptown Funk

I am in love with this song and can’t get it out of my head! I always start to jam out in the car when it plays on the radio and find myself singing it around the house all the time. Plus, I love this video of a Dallas teacher and the dance him and his students did to the song.

  • Saved by the Bell reunion

What child of the 90s wasn’t addicted to this show? I loved that Jimmy Fallon got some of the cast back for this little reunion.

QUESTION // What things are you loving on this Friday?

Friday Favorites #8

As always, I’m so happy that it’s Friday! I’m especially looking forward to a low-key weekend at home with my husband. starting tonight. He’s been a workaholic the past few weeks with a major project deadline so I can’t wait to actually see him and talk to him for more than 5 minutes a day. We have big plans of getting donuts for breakfast tomorrow, followed by the gym and being lazy and watching movies together and finishing the day with a date night out. Amazing how the older I get, it’s just the little things that make me happy to do with him :)

Here’s a look into the things that have been getting me through the past week!

Friday Favorites

  • My dogs

Yes, my dogs are two of my most favorite things in the world all day everyday, but they were especially my favorites the past few weeks. Since my husband has been working 16 hours days nonstop since the start of the year, we’ve hardly seen each other and sometimes I get lonely eating Chipotle for dinner on the couch. I’m so glad that I have had these two fur balls to come home to each night, even if they sit on my lap while I’m eating my beloved burrito bowl that they stick their noses into it. I know, I’m a crazy dog mom but I love these two little fluff balls so much and I love having them around to keep me company.

Friday Favorites

  • Quest Bar – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Personally, I’ve never been a huge believer in protein bars. The ones I’ve tried tasted dry and I didn’t understand how it would fill me up and keep me full for awhile. I’ve heard a lot about Quest Bars and I finally jumped in and decided to try one. I like to eat one of these on the weekends after I do a long run and they really do a good job of keeping my belly full for awhile. Anyone who knows me knows that can be a hard task since I love to eat and snack all day long! This is the only flavor I’ve tried but it tastes just like a cookie, especially when you warm it up in the microwave before eating it.

Friday Favorites

  • NYC Butter Lip Balm in Ladyfingers

I mentioned in this week’s beauty trash video that I’m trying to spend less on makeup and beauty products and actually use up what’s in my collection. This new year’s resolution has lead me to finding some star products in my stash that I forgot I had. I found this NYX Butter Lip Balm on my desk at work and I can’t believe I ever stopped using this. It’s a great lip balm that keeps your lips hydrated and best of all, this Ladyfingers color is a great your lips but better color.

QUESTION // What are your weekend plans?

Friday Favs :: #8

Ahhh Friday, my favorite day of the week! The weather around here has been warming up nicely over the past week and let me tell you, it’s so nice not to have to deal with below zero temperatures the past few days! It’s been still chilly with highs in the 30s-40s but that feels like summer compared to last week’s weather! Let’s jump right into my Friday Favorites. I’ve got some really fun things to talk about today!

Friday Favorites

  • Cold Justice on TNT

A little shameless plug here but my dad is on the TV show Cold Justice on TNT and on tonight’s episode he is one of the investigators. A little background here, my dad is a retired Homicide Detective and he lends his expertise to the show Cold Justice on TNT. Cold Justice is a show that goes back to cold case crimes that were never solved and through the help of local law enforcement and expert investigators, like my dad, they try to solve the case. My dad is incredibly smart when it comes to dealing with homicides and criminals and it’s a little bit fun to have a mini-celebrity in the family. Tonight’s episode is on at 7pm Central time. Here’s a little clip of a TV special my dad was on with John Walsh recapping some of the cases he’s worked on with the show. Fast forward to 11:55 so you can see my daddy :)

  • Etsy shop

I’m so excited to announce that I started my own Etsy shop!!! I always tell my husband business ideas I have and I’m elated that I’m finally seeing some of my ideas coming to life. Being a business owner is something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time. I’ve really learned the value of being your own boss from my husband since he also runs a photo and video business in addition to his full-time job. I know that this is going to take a lot of free time away from me but I really enjoy what I’m making and when you love what you’re doing, that’s not considered work, right? I really hope this is the start of something much bigger for me..and my husband who has been so generously helping me out with everything! We have some other super exciting products that we’ve been working our tails off on each night and I am bursting at the seams to start selling them. I’ll let you all know soon when those items are posted :)

Sparkle & Wine Glass

  • Starbucks Alice & Olivia Mug

I’m a sucker for a cute water bottle or mug and I had to snatch this limited edition Starbucks mug the second I saw it last week. Last year I bought the original Alice and Olivia mug they came out with, and I was beyond bummed when I was cleaning it a few months ago, dropped it and shattered it everywhere. Thank goodness this little mug is making me a little bit happier when I drink my tea in the morning :)

Friday Favorites :: #7

So happy that’s finally the weekend! After 2 weeks of holidays, I was not looking forward to working a full week of work. Luckily it went by pretty quickly but it’s been so cold here! Below zero temperatures all week has had me in a “get me the beach asap” mood all week. It’s only January and I’m already over the cold. Here’s to dreaming of laying in the sun listening to the ocean!

Friday Favorites

Even though the weather has had been a little on the sad side, here’s some favorites that have been getting me through the week!

Pure barre

I seriously can not get enough of this class. While it’s a struggle to set my alarm for 5 am everyday, once I’m too class I’m so happy that I woke up to get there. I’ve done lots of workouts and this one always leaves me a little bit sore. One goal I’ve been working towards is getting a little bit more flexible and after just 5 weeks of class I already can tell a difference in my body which makes me happy :)

  • Fashion Dads on Instagram

Fashion dads

While I love to post my daily fashion on Instagram, I also love to look towards others to inspire me for my next outfit. The Instagram account Fashion Dads is all about what dads would look like if they were fashion bloggers. It’s freaking hilarious what they say about their sweatpants and plaid shirts.

  • Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Lilly Pulitzer for Target

You might be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of the latest collaboration that Target is launching in April. I’m over the moon excited for the Lilly Pulitzer for Target line to launch in April. I know I’ll be there on April 19 filling my cart up with lots of pink and orange Lilly!

  • Cat on a Rhoomba

Although I’m a dog lover, this video had me cracking up. That shark costume gets me every time!

  • 30 Things That Start To Happen When You’re Almost 30

Some of the things from this list just resonate with me already despite not being 30. My favorites from the list that make me feel old are #2 (when alcohol ID signs show the year as 1994), #7 (comfortable shoes seem more attractive), #18 (crafting starts to sound more appealing), #29 (college kids start to look like small children to you).

QUESTION // What are your weekend plans?

What I’m Loving Friday #6

So happy that it’s finally Friday and time for the weekend! My husband has been out of town all week for work and I’m so excited to have him home again. Our pups will be over the moon excited to see him too. For some reason they both completely sulk around the house when he’s gone and they stare at the door thinking it will make him come home sooner. I think they like him a lot more than me because they don’t even care that I’m there! But enough about me, time for some Friday Favorites!

  • Pure Barre

Pure Barre

I’ve been anticipating the Pure Barre studio opening down the street from our house for quite a few months and the time has finally arrived! I purchased a new client package that lasts me for 6 weeks so I’ve been getting up bright and early at 5 am to make it to class. I absolutely love the class and am totally addicted to it already! It’s unlike any other workout I’ve done before and each class so far has been different and has really challenged my body in ways I’ve never done before.

  • Blind Heart

Speaking of Pure Barre, in a couple of classes this has been the last song played while we do our last exercise and I found myself jamming out to it while I finished out class. I was so excited to tell my husband about this song but turns out he’s already heard it. Side note about my husband, I swear this kid could be a music producer in his free time. He always knows songs before they become popular. Years ago he told me about Maroon 5 and how he thought they’d be the next big thing. 6 months later, what’s on the radio all the time? Yep, Maroon 5. He has really great taste in music and has made me listen to songs that always become popular a few months later. I had to laugh when I was listening to a Spotify playlist he made and this song was on it.

  • Peppermint Bark

Peppermint Bark

I talked about my love for peppermint bark in my last Friday Favorites and here’s another one to add to the list. I cannot get enough of this chocolate! And it’s in fun bell shapes which makes it even more festive
